The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Ballista or perhaps it was just good defense by de Borg which made him look bad.
Ballista changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. de Borg tries to avoid it but Ballista manages to keep hold of a leg and drag de Borg to the ground. de Borg escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ballista just misses with a punch to the body.

de Borg shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ballista tries to lock up and control but de Borg gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
de Borg takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Ballista breaks de Borg's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Ballista had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. de Borg is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ballista Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take de Borg's back instead.
de Borg wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace.
de Borg manages to reverse the position and now he's in Ballista's guard. Nice work there by de Borg.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
de Borg is pushing down on Ballista's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ballista is fighting to maintain full guard but de Borg has managed to sneak the leg through.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ballista is looking for a sweep. de Borg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ballista should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

de Borg is taking a breather. Ballista says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

de Borg has hold of Ballista's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ballista manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
