PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eugene Canedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Daniels might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bad to the Bone. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alberto Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eugene Canedo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canedo checks the leg kick nicely there.
Canedo tries to clinch up but Daniels circles away and keeps his distance.
Canedo moves out of range of the leg kick from Daniels.
Daniels attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Daniels keeps the fight on the outside.
Daniels misses with a straight left.

Daniels closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Daniels lands in his opponent's guard.
Daniels might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Daniels is working Canedo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Canedo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Daniels postures up and lands a big shot to Canedo's brow.
Canedo trying to keep a closed guard but Daniels is proving a slippery customer.
Canedo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Daniels throws an elbow that misses. Canedo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Daniels's guard. Nice move by Canedo!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Daniels is pulling down on Canedo's head. It's preventing any offense from Canedo, at least for the moment.
Canedo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Daniels is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Daniels wants to control but Canedo is keeping him busy.

Daniels tries to pass the half guard into mount. Canedo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Daniels moves nicely into side control.
Daniels throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Daniels has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Daniels cracks Canedo with a big right hand but Canedo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Daniels is looking to take a break and control but Canedo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Canedo parries the strikes from Daniels easily there. Daniels is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Canedo to escape.
Canedo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

It looks like Eugene Canedo has been cut.

Daniels in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Canedo takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.


That has opened up Eugene Canedo's cut even more.
Daniels looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Canedo is avoiding damage well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Canedo managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Daniels.

The cut above Eugene Canedo's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Eugene Canedo's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
