The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy wants to clinch

and Hodges counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Hodges's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
McCarthy goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Hodges breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McCarthy closes the distance but Hodges moves to the side

and Hodges counters with a takedown into side control.
McCarthy wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
McCarthy wants to control but Hodges postures up.
Hodges has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for McCarthy!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hodges cracks McCarthy with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

McCarthy really wants to buck Hodges off and get back to his feet.
Hodges lands a big elbow.
Hodges controlling from mount.
Hodges fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Hodges is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hodges pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
A nice elbow there by Hodges.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hodges postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. McCarthy looks a forlorn figure.

Hodges is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! McCarthy is forced to tap! Great finish!
