PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edward Furlong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Van Damme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Furlong comes to the cage accompanied by What's It All For . Damme has chosen Fight to Survive as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edward Furlong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Van Damme!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Furlong lands a really nice looking cross but Damme seems unphased.
Damme throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Furlong shoots in looking for a takedown. Damme tries to sprawl out of it but Furlong keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Damme manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Damme tries to clinch up but Furlong circles away and keeps his distance.
Furlong swinging wildly here.
Furlong shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Damme sprawls well. Damme wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Furlong gets slowly back to his feet.
Damme moves into range and connects with a jab.

Furlong feints and as Damme raises his hands in defense, Furlong changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Damme is looking to stand up but Furlong isn't so interested in that idea.
Damme is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Damme pushes Furlong off and gets back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Furlong won't allow Damme to sweep him here.

Damme pushes Furlong off and scrambles back to his feet.

Furlong throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Damme tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Furlong is in Damme's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Furlong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Damme swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Furlong controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Edward Furlong wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Furlong shoots in for a double leg but Damme sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Furlong wants to control from the top but Damme keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Van Damme will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Furlong looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Damme is fending him off so far but Furlong persists. Nope, Damme circles away and we're back to standing.

Damme throws a nice inside leg kick.
Damme avoids the body shot from Furlong.
Damme thows a body kick. Furlong tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Sloppy strikes from Furlong. Those never looked like landing.
Damme scores with a one two! Furlong had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Damme goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Furlong throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Damme's waist but Damme gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Furlong off to one side.

Furlong shoots for a double leg takedown but Damme sprawls well. He's pushed Furlong's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Damme connects with a leg kick. Furlong looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Furlong seems to be working for a kimura but Damme defends the submission attempt.

Furlong is pressing down on Damme's thigh, looking to free his foot. Damme is holding on for now.
Damme is looking to control Furlong's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Damme avoid being mounted?
Van Damme is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Damme looks like he's trying to stand up.
Furlong is looking to take a break and control but Damme is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Furlong is really struggling to control Damme but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Edward Furlong has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Damme throws a shot to the body.

Damme closes the distance and clinches.
A nice right hand lands inside from Damme.
Damme can't find room to land a body shot as Furlong controls the action.
Furlong tries to pull guard but Damme forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Damme.
Furlong jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Damme walks away with a smile on his face. Furlong gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Damme throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Furlong.
Furlong on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A solid leg kick lands there for Damme.
Edward Furlong is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
