PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ikaro Dantas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dantas kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Self vs Self. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ikaro Dantas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Will West!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dantas ducks under a wild hook from West.
Dantas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. West tries to avoid it but Dantas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag West to the ground. West escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
An inside leg kick from West misses.
West scores with a sloppy right hand. Dantas should have avoided that one.
West buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
West feints and then cracks Dantas's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dantas down.
West lands with a good body shot.
Dantas takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
West cracks Dantas with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Dantas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in West's guard.
West is adopting a defensive guard.
Dantas looking to sit in guard and control but West gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
West scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
West stands and throws Dantas's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Dantas avoids any damage from the ground and pound of West.

West goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dantas has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for West but great work by Dantas.
Dantas has control of an arm but West manages to advance to Dantas's back!
West lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Dantas.
West throws strikes from the back but Dantas rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Dantas.
Dantas controls West momentarily but West frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dantas manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. West manages to get himself to full guard.

Dantas postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! West is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dantas, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
West wants to control from the top but Dantas keeps moving.
West throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
West with a flurry of punches that miss.
West has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dantas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
West looking to sit in guard and control but Dantas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dantas loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Dantas is trying to keep West in close.
West stands up over Dantas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
West is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Dantas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
West lands a couple of digs.
West connects with a couple of short punches.
West wants to control from the top but Dantas keeps moving.
West is looking to work some ground and pound but Dantas has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
West throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dantas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Dantas manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
West tries to hold on but Dantas postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Will West dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


West connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Dantas's hands.
Dantas doesn't manage to clinch there - West circles away.
West tried to score with a low kick but Dantas checks it.
A low kick from West misses
and Dantas counters with an outside leg kick.
Dantas slips under a jab from West.
Dantas's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Dantas duly obliges.
Dantas throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Will West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dantas has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from West finds it's way round the side to connect with Dantas's head.


Dantas is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dantas throws a leg kick
and West counters with a right hand from hell and Dantas is out cold! A vicious knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Will West!
Our winner, Will West, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
