PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between CJ Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by 2pac & Dr.Dre - California Love. Stone has chosen Boom as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, CJ Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Samuel Stone!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Johnson throws a right hand that misses
and Stone counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Nice shot by Johnson.
Johnson missing with a left hand there. Stone was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Stone rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Stone checks the leg kick.
Stone keeps the fight on the outside.
Stone misses with a wild body shot.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson tries to land a leg kick but Stone saw it coming and moves away.
Johnson misses with a head kick.
Johnson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Stone.
Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Stone.
Stone keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Johnson lands with a cross.
Johnson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stone was well out of range. Poor timing from Johnson.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Johnson, as that shot connected.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
CJ Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Johnson slips under a jab.
Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stone circles away quickly and effectively.
No luck for Stone with that takedown attempt.
Sloppy strikes from Stone. Those never looked like landing.
Johnson finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Stone looks to throw the jab but Johnson is out of range.

Stone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Stone wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

Johnson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stone is aware though and is defending well.
Stone keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Johnson's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stone postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Johnson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Stone postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stone, into his guard.
Johnson trying to control but Stone is working from the bottom.
Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Stone can't keep his opponent in guard - Johnson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Stone looking for submissions off his back.
Johnson trying to control from half guard but Stone is working away.
Stone wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson passes the guard and advances to mount!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stone wants to hold on but Johnson pushes him away.
Johnson trying to control but Stone is having none of it.
Johnson moves to the back.

Johnson looking for the RNC.
Johnson trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stone looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Johnson is trying to stick to Stone's back but Stone is turning into Johnson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Johnson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Stone.
Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stone manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stone is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Johnson forces his way into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

CJ Johnson dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Stone misses with a double jab.
That kick from Johnson tenderised Stone's leg. Stone is trying to keep his angry face on.
Johnson works over Stone's head and body with a nice combination.
Johnson takes one to the chin there.
Stone thows a left - swing and a miss!
Johnson throws a nice inside leg kick.
Stone takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Nice body kick there by Johnson.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Nice combo by Stone! Oh, that's hurt him - Johnson falls to the canvas and Stone follows him into side control.


Johnson is rocked!
Johnson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Oh Johnson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Stone is putting a hurting on Johnson here, landing some big shots from side control.
Stone cracks Johnson with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Stone immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Johnson is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Stone!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Samuel Stone!
Samuel Stone decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
