Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Larry Monthan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alessandro Pittana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Larry Monthan has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Larry Monthan seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

13 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Alessandro Pittana!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pittana throws a right and a left that Monthan avoids nicely.
Pittana misses with a two punch combination.
Monthan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Monthan slips a jab and a cross from Pittana.
Alessandro Pittana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pittana throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Monthan.
Pittana misses with a wild combination.
Monthan moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Pittana leaves Monthan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Monthan motions for Pittana to come forward. Monthan throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Monthan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pittana on his heels. He'll look to pass Pittana's guard now, I'm sure.

Monthan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Monthan wants to control from the top but Pittana keeps moving.
Monthan is pushing down on Pittana's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pittana is fighting to maintain full guard but Monthan has managed to sneak the leg through.

Pittana won't allow Monthan to pass to mount.

Monthan decides to stand and escape the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pittana leaves Monthan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Monthan closes the distance and clinches up with Pittana, looking for a takedown. Monthan pushes Pittana against the cage but Pittana circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Larry Monthan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pittana misses with a few strikes there.
Monthan shoots in but no luck this time.
Monthan closes the distance and clinches.
Pittana wants to break the clinch but can't.
Monthan has picked Pittana up - he's going for a ride! Monthan dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Monthan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Monthan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pittana doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Monthan.
Monthan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Still in half guard, Monthan seems content to control.
Monthan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pittana does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Monthan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Monthan moves nicely into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Monthan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pittana swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Monthan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pittana's guard.

Pittana is wriggling around but Monthan manages to pass to half guard.

Larry Monthan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Monthan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pittana sees it coming and defends easily.

Monthan is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Pittana is trying to defend against the choke here but Monthan has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Monthan Tightens the hold and Pittana taps out furiously! Monthan displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

After winning the bout, Larry Monthan thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
