Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Machado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bernardo Bernardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Joe Machado has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Joe Machado seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernardo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Machado swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Machado keeps the fight on the outside.

Machado throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bernardo was covering up waiting for the punch and Machado finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Bernardo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Machado!
Bernardo is stalling here but it's allowed Machado to get half guard.
Machado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
