Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vlad Impaler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Impaler stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Impaler wants it to stay on the feet.

Powers feints and as Impaler raises his hands in defense, Powers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Impaler is on top in guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Impaler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Powers tries to hold on but Impaler pushes him away.
Impaler takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
BOOM! Impaler connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Impaler is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Powers can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
