The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butler throws the kick towards the body but SubMan avoids it.
Butler looks for the body kick but SubMan saw that one coming.
No joy there for Butler, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Butler looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Butler shoots in for a takedown but SubMan shows good takedown defense.
SubMan moves out of range of the body kick from Butler.
Nice sprawl there from Butler as SubMan shoots in.
Butler throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Butler feints and then cracks SubMan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow SubMan down.
Butler tries to clinch but SubMan is having none of it.
Butler works over SubMan's head and body with a nice combination.

Butler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Butler is looking to take a break and control but SubMan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
SubMan is trying to control Butler's posture but Butler avoids it.
Butler wants to stand but SubMan is controlling his arm.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Butler tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
SubMan keeps control of the position for the meantime.
SubMan tries to roll over but Butler keeps him under control.
Butler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with SubMan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

SubMan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Butler is one step ahead there.
SubMan pulls Butler in close to prevent any damage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
SubMan throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Butler escapes and throws SubMan's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee asks Butler politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Butler prefers to stall for the moment though.

SubMan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

SubMan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Butler looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Butler is trying to buck SubMan off.

Butler gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Butler manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Butler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. SubMan is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Butler is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

SubMan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Butler is defending against the submission attempts here by SubMan.
SubMan works his way into side control.
Butler is not content to let SubMan control the position.

SubMan has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Butler lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

SubMan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than SubMan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Butler is controlling an arm, preventing SubMan from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
SubMan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Butler is looking to escape.

Butler tries to hold on but SubMan postures up.
SubMan seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Butler is holding on tight.

Butler is pulling down on SubMan's head. It's preventing any offense from SubMan, at least for the moment.
