Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Mackenzie King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Gillis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mackenzie King comes to the cage accompanied by Westside Connection - Gangsta Nation. Gillis has chosen I Don't Feel Like Dancing - Scissor Sisters as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, William Mackenzie King!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamie Gillis!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gillis lands an overhand right.


It looks like William Mackenzie King has been cut.
Gillis gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mackenzie King.
Gillis looks to land a right hand but Mackenzie King moved out of range.
A slapping leg kick lands for Mackenzie King.
Mackenzie King drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Gillis cracks Mackenzie King with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gillis closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mackenzie King's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Gillis working some strikes from top position.
Mackenzie King utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gillis working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Gillis cracks Mackenzie King with a solid left hand.
Gillis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Gillis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mackenzie King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gillis has managed to get both his arms back between Mackenzie King's legs - danger averted.

Gillis works over Mackenzie King with some ground and pound from guard.

Mackenzie King wants to sweep here but Gillis controlling him for the moment.
Gillis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gillis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mackenzie King escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gillis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gillis lands a couple of elbows.
Gillis trying to control but Mackenzie King is working from the bottom.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gillis throwing strikes from guard but Mackenzie King blocks nicely.
Gillis forces his way into half guard.
Gillis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Gillis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mackenzie King trying to hold on to Gillis's head to control him but Gillis postures up.
Gillis takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Gillis is looking to take a break and control but Mackenzie King is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gillis thows a huge punch but Mackenzie King dodges it nicely.
Mackenzie King blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gillis.
Mackenzie King gets back to full guard.
Mackenzie King wants to sweep but no luck.
Gillis in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Gillis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mackenzie King pulls Gillis in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gillis passes into half guard.

Gillis not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Gillis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gillis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.


William Mackenzie King's cut is getting worse.
Gillis sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mackenzie King defending well though.
Gillis scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Mackenzie King wants to control but Gillis is keeping busy.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gillis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mackenzie King with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.


William Mackenzie King's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Gillis throwing shots but Mackenzie King is blocking nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamie Gillis dominated that round.

That's time! Back to the action!


Gillis misses with an uppercut
and Mackenzie King counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Gillis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mackenzie King was well out of range. Poor timing from Gillis.

Mackenzie King misses with a body shot.
Mackenzie King throws a wild body kick that Gillis sees coming a mile off.
Gillis moves out of range of the body kick.
Gillis ducks under a wild hook from Mackenzie King.
Gillis misses with a wild body shot.
Gillis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
No luck for Gillis with that takedown attempt.
Mackenzie King feints and then cracks Gillis's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gillis down.
Mackenzie King is looking to score with low kicks.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gillis is defended easily by Mackenzie King.
A big left from Gillis misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mackenzie King looks to land a body kick but Gillis moved away.
Mackenzie King misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gillis misses with a wild body shot.

Gillis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at William Mackenzie King's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
