Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Kovalov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pasko Nusciva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nusciva has chosen Lionel Richie - Hello as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Antonio Kovalov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pasko Nusciva!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nusciva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kovalov misses with a few strikes there.

Nusciva scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Nusciva working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Kovalov is trying to improve his position.
Nusciva is looking to take a break and control but Kovalov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nusciva jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kovalov is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kovalov and Nusciva has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
I wouldn't like to be where Kovalov is right now.

Nusciva postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Nusciva creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kovalov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Nusciva goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kovalov has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Nusciva but great work by Kovalov.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Antonio Kovalov.
Well Kovalov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
