Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luis Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sye Moon Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sye Moon Kim!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Kim. Those never looked like landing.
Costa is looking to clinch but Kim is avoiding it.
Costa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Costa tries to clinch up.
Kim stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kim wants it to stay on the feet.
Kim misses with a two punch combination.
Costa fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luis Costa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kim will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Costa is looking to clinch but Kim is avoiding it.
Kim throws a wild body kick that Costa sees coming a mile off.

Costa gets the takedown into side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kim is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Kim wants to control but Costa postures up.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Costa working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Costa creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kim sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Kim pushes Costa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Costa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kim seems a little lost for a moment, as Costa dominates the positioning.
Costa sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Kim is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Kim takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Costa goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kim rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Costa's guard! Nice work there by Kim!
Kim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Costa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Costa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Costa thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Costa looking to control.

Costa working for a triangle but Kim defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Costa has a closed guard, preventing Kim from standing up.
Costa keeping moving, preventing Kim from controlling successfully.
Kim being controlled here momentarily.
Kim wanted to stand there but Costa had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Costa wants to sweep here but Kim controlling him for the moment.

Kim stands and steps away. Costa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Costa closes the distance and clinches.
Kim tries to break free but Costa pushes him back against the cage.
Kim wants to break free but Costa has control.
Kim wants to get back to striking at distance but Costa won't allow it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Costa controlling the action here for a moment.
Costa keeps control of Kim as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luis Costa dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kim misses with a two punch combination.
Kim tries to bum rush Costa with a series of wild strikes but Costa uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kim swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Costa fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kim sprawls well initially but Costa persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Costa is working for a kimura but Kim is defending it quite comfortably.

Costa wants to work for an arm triangle but Kim is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Costa passes to full mount!
Kim is desperately trying to improve his position but Costa has a good base and remains in mount.
Costa misses with a head shot.
Kim wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Costa.
Kim trying desperately to get to his feet.
Kim blocking the ground and pound.

Costa with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Costa is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kim is surviving well by controlling Costa's body position as best he can.
Costa is landing with some decent strikes but Kim is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Costa trying to control but Kim is having none of it.
Kim wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Costa goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kim turns into him and now he's in Costa's guard.
Kim with a flurry of punches that miss.

Kim wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Costa's closed guard. He's half up but Costa has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Costa pivots and extends the arm, Kim falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Costa! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Luis Costa!
