The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by Rodriguez.
Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fitzgerald sprawls well. Fitzgerald wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rodriguez gets slowly back to his feet.
Fitzgerald really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rodriguez thows a body shot but no joy.

Rodriguez takes the fight into the clinch.
Rodriguez goes for a takedown in the clinch but Fitzgerald prevents it.
Rodriguez has had enough of the clinch but Fitzgerald keeps him there for the moment.
Rodriguez is working for takedown but Fitzgerald is calmly controlling the position for now.
Lachie Fitzgerald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Rodriguez.
Fitzgerald tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rodriguez just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rodriguez wants to get back to striking at distance but Fitzgerald won't allow it.

Fitzgerald manages to break the clinch.
Rodriguez stuffs the takedown attempt from Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald gets slowly back to his feet.
Fitzgerald throws a series of punches but Rodriguez avoids them all with ease.

Fitzgerald takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Rodriguez takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Fitzgerald shoots in and drives through. Rodriguez sprawls well.

Rodriguez closes the distance and clinches.
Rodriguez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Fitzgerald jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rodriguez walks away with a smile on his face. Fitzgerald gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nice takedown defense from Rodriguez. No joy for Fitzgerald on that attempt.
Fitzgerald fails with the takedown.
Fitzgerald tries for a takedown but Rodriguez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Fitzgerald tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rodriguez swivels and escapes.
Fitzgerald is breathing heavily.
Fitzgerald tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
BOOM! Rodriguez lands a beautiful left hook that drops Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald tries to recover but Rodriguez is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Fitzgerald lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
