Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ilia Kosarev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Machida!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Machida displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kosarev.
Kosarev takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kosarev manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Machida on his heels. He'll look to pass Machida's guard now, I'm sure.
Machida pushes a forearm under Kosarev's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Kosarev is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joe Machida!
A relieved looking Joe Machida thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
