Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brick Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brick Taylor has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Williams!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Taylor tries to avoid it but Williams manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Taylor to the ground. Taylor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Taylor tries to clinch but Williams moves away

and Williams counters with a nice double leg into side control. Taylor won't be happy with that.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Williams remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Taylor tries to hold on but Williams postures up.
Taylor is squirming around, avoiding Williams's attempts to control the action.
Williams pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Williams lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Taylor is desperately trying to improve his position but Williams has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Taylor keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Taylor leaves Williams with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

so Williams counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Taylor is looking to sweep but instead, Williams has passed into half guard.
Williams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Taylor works his way to full guard. Good work.
Williams wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.
Williams not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Williams wants to pass the guard but Taylor is keeping the position.
Taylor can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Williams controls the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Joe Williams hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Williams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Williams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Taylor keeps working.

Taylor is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Williams off and has taken his back!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Williams wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Taylor has got one arm under Williams's chin. This could be trouble... Williams trying to control the other hand but Taylor gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Williams has tapped out! The fight is over!
