Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuki Nakai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yuki Nakai told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakai cracks the inside of Cruz's front leg.
Yuki Nakai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nakai closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cruz manages to get to full guard.
Cruz looking for a sweep. Not yet Cruz, not yet.
Cruz looking for subs off his back but Nakai has passed one foot through into half guard.
Nakai is looking to advance position but Cruz won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nakai pulls his head out easily.

Nakai wants to pass to mount but Cruz is defending the position.

Cruz is refusing to be controlled, as Nakai sits in half guard.
Nakai is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Cruz reverses the position - he's now on top in Nakai's guard.

Nakai escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cruz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cruz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Nakai looking for a sweep. Not yet Nakai, not yet.

Cruz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nakai's head.
Cruz chips away with some ground and pound.
Nakai looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cruz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nakai works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nakai is on top in guard.
Cruz keeping moving, preventing Nakai from controlling successfully.
Cruz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nakai goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Cruz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nakai but Nakai pushes him off and we're back to square one.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cruz.
Nakai swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Nakai gets a double leg takedown into Cruz's guard.
Nakai passes Cruz's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Cruz tries to get to full guard but Nakai has control of the leg.
Nakai is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cruz defends it well.
Nakai is trying to control. Cruz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Nakai in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Cruz tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Nakai!

A pretty intense looking Yuki Nakai took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
