The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oooooh!!! Mendes has knocked Dontas down with a huge combo! Mendes steps away and waves a wobbly Dontas back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Eduardo Dontas has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mendes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dontas, pushing him back against the cage.
Dontas looks gassed!

Mendes works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mendes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dontas is proving hard to escape from.
Mendes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dontas on the ground.

Dontas is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Mendes frees his head nicely. Oh but Dontas has switched to an armbar! Mendes is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
