The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid leg kick lands there for Liquor.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones prevents Liquor from standing back up.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jones postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Liquor to stand up.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Liquor shows good takedown defense.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Liquor as he jumps to the side.
Jones has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Liquor scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Liquor scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Liquor doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Jones doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The crowd cheers as Liquor lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jones doesn't seem phased though.

Liquor lands with an overhand left.
Liquor misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jones tries to clinch

and Liquor holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Liquor breaks from the clinch.
Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Liquor counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Liquor.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johny Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Liquor lands a hook that snaps the head of Jones backwards.
Liquor is trying to break free.
Jones prevents Liquor from breaking the clinch.

Jones manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Liquor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liquor wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Liquor is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Liquor's back instead.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Jones punishes Liquor with strikes from the back mount.
Liquor wants to get back to his feet.
Jones biding his time, looking for the opening.
Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jones tries to get the hooks in deep but Liquor pushed the leg off.
Liquor covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee is taking a good look at Liquor as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Jones!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Liquor controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Jones working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Liquor is doing well to defend. Jones seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Liquor is forced to tap and this one is over!
