Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Weed King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Piper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peter Piper has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Weed King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Peter Piper!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

King scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

King tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Piper wants to control but King postures up.

King is trying to get an arm triangle but Piper is defending well.

King stands up and we're back to a striking position.
King shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Piper defends it nicely.

King tries to keep at a distance but Piper has taken the fight into the clinch.
King can't get the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King lands a hook that snaps the head of Piper backwards.
King lands with a light punch inside.
King tries to land a knee to the head but Piper blocks with his arms.
King swings wildly with an uppercut but Piper uses good head movement to avoid it.

Piper works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Piper stands and steps away. King gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Piper lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Weed King has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Piper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
King closes this distance looking for a takedown but Piper circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Weed King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Piper lands with an uppercut that bounces King off the cage and back into range.

King throws a head kick but Piper moves out of range.

Piper shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
King is breathing heavily.
Piper tries to pass to full mount but King defends it.
Piper looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
It looks like Piper might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Piper seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but King does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Piper is trying to work for a kimura but King is defending well.

Piper wants to work for an arm triangle but King is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

King is in trouble now - Piper has advanced to mount!

Piper is working for a guillotine from mount but King frees his head quite easily.

King tries to reverse the position but Piper maintains control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

This has been an exciting period of action!
King sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
King is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Weed King's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Piper jabs King to the body, keeping him at a distance.
King fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Piper fails in his attempt to clinch.
Piper tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. King manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
King shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Piper counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

King has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Piper is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Piper is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Peter Piper was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Piper throws a series of punches but King moves out of range.
Piper fails in his attempt to clinch.

Piper shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. King is trying to defend but Piper finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
King is refusing to be controlled, as Piper sits in half guard.

Piper wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Piper. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Peter Piper.
King shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Piper sprawls well. Piper wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. King gets slowly back to his feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Peter Piper hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up but Piper swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Piper drives through with a takedown into King's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

King shoots for a double leg takedown but Piper sprawls well. He's pushed King's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
King shoots for a takedown but Piper saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Piper drops back looking for a leg! King is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and King manages to kick Piper off! Piper jumps back into King's guard.

Piper decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on King, up you get!

Piper shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Piper is trying to control the action in half guard but King is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Piper might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control King kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

King makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
King takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Piper looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for King!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Piper pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Peter Piper is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

King is trying desperately to improve position.
King wants to get back to his feet.
Piper has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Peter Piper comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Piper has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
