PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Osulf Durin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rodrigo Santos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Osulf Durin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rodrigo Santos!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Durin. Santos does a little dance to reset his feet.
A jab from Santos misses.
Durin looks to land a combination but Santos avoids it well.

Durin gets the takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Santos tries to bench press Durin off him but Durin keeps the position.
Santos is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Durin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Santos is defending against the submission attempts here by Durin.

Santos wants to hit a switch here but Durin passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Santos there!

Santos keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Santos wants to control but Durin is having none of it.
Santos sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Santos is looking for a sweep. Durin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Durin tries to pass to full mount but Santos defends it.

The fighters are battling for position here. Santos manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Durin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Santos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Santos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Durin's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Durin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Santos lands a couple of elbows.
Durin looking for a sweep. Not yet Durin, not yet.
Santos postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Durin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Santos cracks Durin with a solid left hand.
Santos is stalling in the full guard.

Santos trying to control but Durin is working from the bottom.
Santos advances position into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durin taking a bit of punishment here - Santos scoring with strikes.
Durin takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Durin is trying to control Santos's posture but Santos avoids it.
Durin tries to improve position but can't.
Santos landing strikes.
Durin is looking to regain half guard here but Santos keeps moving and retains side control.
Durin manages to get back to half guard.
Santos scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ground and pound from Santos.

Santos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Santos with the ground and pound but Durin uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Durin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Santos trying to control but Durin is working from the bottom.
Durin is trying to keep Santos in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Santos won't allow Durin to sweep him here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodrigo Santos dominated that round.

Santos slips a jab and a cross from Durin.

Santos feints and as Durin raises his hands in defense, Santos changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Durin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Santos lands a couple of digs.
Rodrigo Santos has got the better of the ground game so far.
Santos makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Santos lands a couple of elbows.
Santos wants to pass the guard but Durin is keeping the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Santos's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Santos distracts Durin with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Santos advances position into side control!
Durin wants to control but Santos postures up.
Santos is chipping away with strikes.
Santos lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Durin down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santos in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Durin looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Santos turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rodrigo Santos!
