Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nate Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuki Nakai!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Nakai darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Cruz looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Nakai!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Cruz content just to control the position here.
Nakai is looking to get to half guard.
Nakai tries to lock up and control but Cruz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Nakai is trying to trip Cruz. He has hold of a leg but Cruz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Nakai persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cruz gets to his feet - Nakai follows without any prompting.
Nakai motions for Cruz to come forward. Nakai throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Nakai pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cruz shoots for a takedown but Nakai saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nakai slaps away a takedown attempt from Cruz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Cruz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cruz is trying to drag Nakai to the mat but Nakai just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Nakai drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cruz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Nakai stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Nakai tries to throw a body punch but Cruz avoids it by throwing Nakai back against the cage.

Nakai is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cruz is just riding it out for now. Nakai eventually gives up the hold.

Nakai is stalling here. Cruz is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Nakai seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cruz has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Nakai has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
