Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Tamad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sparks kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sparks. Ricky Sparks had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Sosuke Kotani.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparks waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Tamad.
Tamad shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sparks sprawls well. Sparks wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tamad gets slowly back to his feet.

Sparks scores with a one two! Tamad had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Tamad throws a body punch but Sparks moves out of range.

Tamad closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sparks quickly recovers to half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Tamad prevents Sparks from standing back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sparks can't escape the position.

Tamad breaks from Sparks's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Tamad misses with some ground and pound and Sparks recovers position to half guard.
Tamad throwing shots but Sparks is blocking nicely.
Tamad passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sparks!

Tamad is working for a guillotine from mount but Sparks frees his head quite easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sparks on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sparks tries to get out of the position.

BOOM! Tamad connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Sparks is rocked!
Sparks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tamad on the ground.
Tamad postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Sparks in real trouble here! The ref calls for Sparks to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Tamad!
