The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bignog throws a series of punches but Rodriguez avoids them all with ease.
Rodriguez closes the distance and clinches up with Bignog, looking for a takedown. Rodriguez pushes Bignog against the cage but Bignog circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bignog misses with a double jab

and Rodriguez counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Rodriguez passes to side control.

Rodriguez is trying to get an arm triangle but Bignog is defending well.
Rodriguez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bignog keeps working.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rodriguez has hold of Bignog's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Bignog tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rodriguez cranks the arm and Bignog screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bignog, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
