The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie sizes up Azevedo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
Gracie misses with a left hand
and Azevedo counters with a stiff right hand.
No joy there for Gracie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A telegraphed right hand from Azevedo misses the target.

Azevedo shoots in looking for a takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl out of it but Azevedo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gracie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gracie tried to score with a low kick but Azevedo checks it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gracie throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Azevedo was covering up waiting for the punch and Gracie finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gracie is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Azevedo is in real trouble.
Azevedo is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Gracie off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
