PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gary Bowman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary Bowman looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Bowman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Miller!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Bowman, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Bowman against the cage but Bowman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bowman looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Miller displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bowman.
Bowman fails with the takedown

and Miller counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Miller.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Miller content to stall in guard here.
Miller is looking to work some ground and pound but Bowman has wrist control.
Bowman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Miller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Miller wants to get up but he can't break Bowman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Miller controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sean Miller hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Miller closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Miller is trying to control. Bowman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Miller is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Miller stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Miller drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Miller decides to stand back up.

Miller tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bowman avoids it.

Miller works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Miller would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Miller slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Miller drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bowman dives on top into guard.
Miller lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bowman!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bowman tries to control Miller's body but Miller pushes him off. Bowman squirms to his side and now Miller has his back!

Miller has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Bowman's body.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Miller is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bowman is defending well though. Miller let's go of the attempt for now.

Miller closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bowman did well to prevent Miller getting side control.

Miller seems to be working for a kimura but Bowman defends the submission attempt.

Miller is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bowman can't fight it off and eventually Miller manages to take the fight to the floor. Bowman looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Miller stands and throws Bowman's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Miller cracks Bowman with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Miller has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Miller is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Bowman to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bowman shrugs it off.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Miller cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Bowman tries to reverse the position but Miller maintains control.
Miller tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sean Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Miller keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bowman's efforts to push away.
Miller is trying to pull guard but Bowman turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Miller stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Miller jumps guard and drags Bowman to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miller can do anything to dispel that myth.
Miller bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bowman's guard.

Miller tries to clinch up but Bowman circles away and keeps his distance.
Bowman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Gary Bowman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sean Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Miller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
