PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Moa Soto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacko Anselmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soto comes to the cage accompanied by kill switch engage-when darkness falls. Anselmo has chosen Amon Amarth-DEATH IN FIRE as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Moa Soto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jacko Anselmo!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Soto.
Soto fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Anselmo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Soto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Anselmo's waist but Anselmo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Soto off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Moa Soto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Soto tries to clinch up
and Anselmo counters with a straight right hand.
Jab, jab by Anselmo - just one landing.
Soto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Anselmo's waist but Anselmo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Soto off to one side.

enabling Anselmo to counter with a crisp jab.
Moa Soto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soto shoots in looking for a takedown but Anselmo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Soto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Anselmo lunges at Soto with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Soto's hand.
Anselmo lands with an overhand left.


It looks like Moa Soto has been cut.
Anselmo's corner calls for a 1-2. Anselmo obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Soto is breathing heavily.

and Anselmo counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Anselmo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Anselmo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
The crowd cheers as Anselmo lands an impressive looking overhand right. Soto doesn't seem phased though.
Anselmo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Soto wants to clinch
and Anselmo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Anselmo lands with a straight right. Soto didn't see that one coming.
Anselmo swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Soto.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Soto. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Anselmo scores with a hook to the body. Soto takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Anselmo drops Soto with a left and a right! Oh, Soto is hurt - Anselmo dives into side control looking to finish!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Anselmo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Soto sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The ground and pound from Anselmo seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anselmo is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Soto walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Soto shoots in looking for a takedown. Anselmo tries to sprawl out of it but Soto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anselmo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Anselmo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Soto fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Anselmo avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Anselmo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jacko Anselmo seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Anselmo slaps away a takedown attempt from Soto, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Anselmo scores with a nice head shot.
Soto takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Anselmo connects with a jab.
Anselmo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Soto backs up against the cage.
Anselmo sizes up Soto with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Oooh a lovely combination from Anselmo sends Soto down but not out. Anselmo dives into side control looking to finish.
Oh Soto is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Anselmo postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Anselmo tries to score with some ground and pound. Soto controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Soto seems to have got his legs back now.
Soto is not content to let Anselmo control the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Anselmo stands up and beckons Soto to his feet.
Anselmo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Anselmo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Soto looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Anselmo cracks Soto with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Anselmo wants to get up but he can't break Soto's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Soto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Soto tries to get out of the position.

Well Anselmo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
