Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Salsa Jose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buster Joncs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Salsa Jose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buster Joncs!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jose tries to close the distance and clinch up but Joncs swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Joncs clinches up against the cage.
Jose throws an elbow but it misses.

Joncs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jose tries to clinch but Joncs moves out of range.

Joncs gets tackled into the cage by Jose. Jose maintains the clinch.
Jose tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Joncs goes for a takedown attempt but Jose pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Joncs connects with a body shot.
Joncs throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Jose drops back, looking for a kneebar! Joncs looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Joncs looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Joncs!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jose tries to clinch there but Joncs circles away.
Jose stuffs the takedown attempt from Joncs. Joncs gets slowly back to his feet.
A right-left combo lands from Joncs.


It looks like Salsa Jose has been cut.
Joncs lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Joncs looks to score with a jab to the body but Jose is just out of range.
Jose wants to clinch.
Joncs lands with a good body shot.

Joncs takes a swing at Jose's ribcage but misses.
Joncs circles away from the clinch attempt

and Joncs counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Joncs is trying to trip Jose. He has hold of a leg but Jose is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Joncs persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

and Joncs counters with a crisp one two that drops Jose! Joncs thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Jose to his feet! Jose is in big trouble!
Oh Jose is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Joncs wants to land a leg kick but Jose is out of range.
Joncs lands a nice shot to the body.
Jose blocks a head kick by Joncs.
Jose seems to have got his legs back now.
Jose is looking to clinch but Joncs is avoiding it.

enabling Joncs to counter with a crisp jab.

Joncs scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Joncs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jose. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Joncs scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jose to see if he's OK.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Joncs decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jose to his feet.

Joncs rushes Jose and presses him up against the cage.
Jose throws an elbow but it misses.
Jose pushes off an throws an elbow but Joncs leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Joncs tries to circle away but Jose has him pinned against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Buster Joncs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Joncs throws a sloppy head kick and Jose moves out of range easily.
Jose avoids a punch combination nicely.
Joncs has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A frustrated look appears on Joncs's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Joncs wants a takedown but no success here.
Joncs is trying to push Jose away but Jose has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Jose.
Joncs tries to pull guard but Jose won't allow it.
Jose tries a knee to the head but Joncs blocks it.
Jose misses with an elbow over the top.

Jose throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Joncs blocks it with crossed arms.
Joncs wants to get back to striking at distance but Jose won't allow it.
Salsa Jose has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Joncs jumps into guard, dragging Jose to the mat.

Jose drops back looking for a leg! Joncs is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Joncs manages to kick Jose off! Jose jumps back into Joncs's guard.
Jose wants to pass the guard but Joncs is keeping the position.

Jose thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jose drops back looking for a leg! Joncs is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Joncs manages to kick Jose off! Jose jumps back into Joncs's guard.
Buster Joncs is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Joncs wants to stand up but Jose is controlling him.

Buster Joncs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Joncs has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
