PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Corbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corbett comes into the arena with ... blaring out of the sound system. Martin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Song of Ice and Fire Art Collection. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathan Corbett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Martin!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Corbett.
Martin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Martin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Corbett was well out of range. Poor timing from Martin.
Corbett on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Martin. Martin obviously looking to wear him down.
Corbett tests Martin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Martin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Martin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Martin shoots in but Corbett avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Corbett slaps away a takedown attempt from Martin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Martin throws a push kick but Corbett slaps the foot to one side.

A solid leg kick lands there for Martin.
Corbett pulls out of a head kick attempt.
An inside leg kick from Martin misses.
Martin moves forwards but Corbett connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Martin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Martin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Corbett to the mat! Corbett manages to get full guard.

Corbett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Nathan Corbett will probably get the nod.

Martin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Martin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Martin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Corbett is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Martin has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Martin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Martin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Martin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Corbett.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Corbett is on top in guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nathan Corbett.
I think Corbett has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
