PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Queen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucas's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Jay-Z- American Gangster. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Lucas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Queen!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Queen has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lucas is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Queen gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Lucas pushes Queen off but Queen dives into side control.
Lucas is not content to let Queen control the position.
Lucas is looking to regain half guard here but Queen keeps moving and retains side control.
Lucas is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Queen is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Lucas is trying to escape the mount.
Lucas regains half guard.

Lucas kicks Queen off and gets back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Queen looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Queen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lucas manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lucas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lucas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lucas has his feet on Queen's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Queen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lucas to the mat! Lucas manages to get full guard.
Queen's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lucas is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Lucas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Queen gets caught flat footed, as Lucas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Queen trying to keep a closed guard but Lucas is proving a slippery customer.

Lucas stands and steps away. Queen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Queen gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Queen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lucas.

Queen jumps guard and drags Lucas to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lucas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lucas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Queen is just riding it out for now. Lucas eventually gives up the hold.

Lucas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lucas has control of Queen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Queen regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Lucas working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Queen takes the fight into the clinch.
Lucas can't get the takedown.
Lucas looking to slow down the pace here.
Lucas seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Queen is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.
Lucas wants a takedown but no success here.

Lucas breaks from the clinch.
Queen slaps away a takedown attempt from Lucas, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Lucas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lucas shoots in for a takedown but Queen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Lucas tries to sprawl but Queen drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Queen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lucas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Queen works his foot free and advances to mount.
Lucas is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Lucas makes his way to full guard, as Queen worked for a kimura.

Queen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lucas wants to stand but Queen is controlling the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lucas has his foot on Queen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Queen works his way back into a safe position though.

Lucas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Lucas pushes Queen off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Lucas tries for a takedown but Queen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Queen rushes Lucas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lucas drops down looking for an ankle pick but Queen pulls his leg out and moves away.

Queen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lucas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Queen is in Lucas's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Queen won't allow Lucas to sweep him here.

Queen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lucas sprawls well initially but Queen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Frank Lucas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Queen is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Queen prevents Lucas from standing back up.
Lucas moves into full guard.

Lucas kicks Queen off and gets to his feet.

Lucas closes the distance and clinches.
Lucas changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Queen fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Queen closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Queen moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Lucas dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Queen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lucas's guard.

Lucas has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Queen off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Queen throws a leg kick but Lucas sees it coming and moves out of range.

Queen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lucas was covering up waiting for the punch and Queen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Lucas isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Queen stacks Lucas on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Queen!
Lucas manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Lucas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
