The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Small's jab looks to have found its range, popping Shields under the eye.
Small lands a nice hook to Shields's body. Shields takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Small sizes up Shields with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Small connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Small looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Small throws a series of punches but Shields moves out of range.
Small defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shields.

Shields shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Shields takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

It looks like Jake Shields has been cut.
Pat Small is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Small clobbers Shields with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Shields counters with a nice double leg into side control. Small won't be happy with that.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Small bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shields's head backwards.
Pat Small seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shields avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Small lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shields doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Small swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Small punishes Shields's body with a nice straight punch.
Small connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Shields's hands.

Small fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Shields has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Shields takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Small darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Small smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Small connects with a good right hand that stumbles Shields. Shields circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Shields closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Small's guard.
