Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Julian Assange!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lee Sandmeyer!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandmeyer throws a shot from downtown. Assange moves away and avoids it.
Sandmeyer throws a sloppy head kick and Assange moves out of range easily.
Sandmeyer on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Sandmeyer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Assange circles away quickly and effectively.
Sandmeyer moves out of range of the body kick from Assange.
A low kick from Sandmeyer misses
and Assange counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lee Sandmeyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sandmeyer throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sandmeyer throws a right hand that Assange ducks under and follows up with a left that Assange also avoids with ease.
Sandmeyer misses with a takedown attempt - Assange sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sandmeyer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Assange moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Assange has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Assange lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sandmeyer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Assange looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Assange is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Assange connects with a nice short shot to Sandmeyer's temple.

Assange slows the pace down in half guard.
Sandmeyer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Assange. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Assange looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sandmeyer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Assange is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Sandmeyer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Assange pulls his head out easily.

Well, if Assange is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sandmeyer won't allow Assange to pass to mount.

Assange working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Assange takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Assange looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Assange lands a nice short elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Assange's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Sandmeyer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sandmeyer throws a series of punches but Assange avoids them all with ease.

and Assange counters with a stiff right hand.

Assange closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sandmeyer quickly recovers to half guard.
Assange lands with a punch from half guard.
Assange slows the pace down in half guard.
Assange is trying to control the action in half guard but Sandmeyer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Assange content to control rather than advance.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Assange uses his free foot to push down on Sandmeyer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sandmeyer.
Assange lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Julian Assange overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Assange is landing with some decent strikes but Sandmeyer is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Assange is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sandmeyer can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Sandmeyer is breathing heavily.

Assange is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sandmeyer can do to turn this around?

Assange has hold of Sandmeyer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sandmeyer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Assange breaks from Sandmeyer's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Sandmeyer seems to have recovered his senses.

Assange unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Sandmeyer wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Assange celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

During a confident post fight interview, Julian Assange thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
