Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Phuey!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mark Pineda!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pineda lands a jab.
Pineda checks a low kick from Phuey.
Pineda just misses with a punch to the body.
Pineda shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pineda was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Phuey wants to hold on but Pineda pushes him away.
Phuey is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pineda is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Pineda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Phuey is looking to escape.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Phuey tries to hold on but Pineda pushes him away.
Phuey is desperately trying to improve his position but Pineda has a good base and remains in mount.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee warns Phuey that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pineda is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Phuey regains half guard.
Phuey blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pineda.
Phuey pushes Pineda off looking to stand but Pineda dives back in and keeps control.
Pineda seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Pineda tries to pass the half guard into mount. Phuey knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Pineda moves nicely into side control.

You can see the frustration on Phuey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Phuey tries to buck Pineda off but Pineda is having none of it.
Phuey takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pineda has hold of Phuey's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Phuey seems comfortable defending it but Pineda has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Phuey is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Phuey is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Pineda couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mark Pineda!
