Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Khripunova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Tretiak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khripunova leaves Tretiak with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Khripunova tries to sprawl but Tretiak drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Khripunova is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Khripunova seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Tretiak drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tretiak jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Khripunova lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Khripunova.
Nice takedown defense from Khripunova. No joy for Tretiak on that attempt.

and Khripunova counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Crunch! Khripunova slams his shin into Tretiak's torso.
Tretiak is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Tretiak is rocked!
Khripunova darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Tretiak's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Khripunova before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
