PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalvin Abrum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maciej Wieluk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abrum comes to the cage accompanied by Leave Home. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kalvin Abrum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Maciej Wieluk!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wieluk shoots in and drives through. Abrum sprawls well.
Wieluk with a lazy takedown attempt

and Abrum counters with a shoot takedown. Wieluk fights it but they end up in guard.
Abrum is working Wieluk over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Wieluk wants to stand and escape but Abrum is having none of it.
Wieluk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Wieluk pulls Abrum in to control the position.
Abrum loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Abrum throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wieluk works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wieluk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Abrum's guard.

Abrum is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wieluk is controlling him.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Maciej Wieluk hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Abrum enables Wieluk to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Abrum manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wieluk wants to control from the top but Abrum keeps moving.
Abrum wants to stand but Wieluk is controlling the position.
Wieluk lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Wieluk works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Wieluk is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Abrum is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wieluk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abrum keeps working.

Wieluk content to control rather than advance.

Wieluk seems to be working for a kimura but Abrum defends the submission attempt.
Wieluk perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Maciej Wieluk was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Wieluk looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kalvin Abrum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maciej Wieluk.

Abrum throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wieluk shoots in for a takedown but Abrum shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Abrum counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Wieluk down! Abrum is looking to finish but Wieluk is intelligently defending himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Abrum fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wieluk sprawls well initially but Abrum persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Abrum thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wieluk's head.
Abrum looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wieluk with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Abrum takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Abrum knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wieluk on the ground.
Abrum looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wieluk with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Abrum lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Wieluk works his way to full guard. Good work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wieluk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wieluk is looking to take a break and control but Abrum is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wieluk is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Wieluk is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wieluk has his feet on Abrum's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Wieluk is still on wobbly legs! Can Abrum finish him?
Abrum displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wieluk.
Wieluk seems to have recovered his senses.
Kalvin Abrum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maciej Wieluk.

Abrum shoots in looking for a takedown. Wieluk tries to sprawl out of it but Abrum keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wieluk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Wieluk.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Abrum will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wieluk throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Abrum got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wieluk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abrum has managed to get both his arms back between Wieluk's legs - danger averted.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wieluk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Abrum but Abrum pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Abrum is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wieluk can do to turn this around?
Abrum pounces like a tiger and cracks Wieluk with a vicious hook! Wieluk is down but not out! Abrum follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kalvin Abrum!
