The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Polio fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Polio closes the distance and clinches up with Thomas, looking for a takedown. Polio pushes Thomas against the cage but Thomas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Thomas looks to land a combination but Polio avoids it well.
A head kick misses from Thomas.
Thomas scores with a nice right hand.

It looks like Tommy Polio has been cut.
Thomas fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Polio on the side of the head.
A punch combination from Thomas misses.
Thomas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Polio moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Thomas throws a right and a left that Polio avoids nicely.
Polio dives in and grabs Thomas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thomas pushes down on Polio's head and hops out.
Trefor Thomas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Polio.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Polio.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Polio looking to score a takedown here. Thomas is defending well but Polio drives through and ends up in Thomas's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Polio pushes down on Thomas's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Polio is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Polio is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Thomas is just riding it out for now. Polio eventually gives up the hold.

Polio has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Thomas defend it? Polio steps over the head and cranks it - Thomas is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Polio!
