The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atheist connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Diego Nunes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nunes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Atheist napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Nunes prevents Atheist from escaping the position.
Atheist is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Nunes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Atheist to his feet.
Nunes has his takedown stuffed
and Atheist counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nunes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Atheist counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Nunes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nunes fails to advance to Atheist's back.
Atheist really wants to buck Nunes off and get back to his feet.
