Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Donelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akihito Tatsuhiko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatsuhiko has chosen Save Yourself as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joseph Donelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Akihito Tatsuhiko!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donelly throws a shot to the body.
Tatsuhiko tries to clinch up
and Donelly counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Tatsuhiko drives through with a takedown into guard.
Donelly looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Tatsuhiko wants to control from the top but Donelly keeps moving.
Donelly might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Donelly trying to keep a closed guard but Tatsuhiko is proving a slippery customer.
Tatsuhiko trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Donelly utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Tatsuhiko stops Donelly from standing up.

Tatsuhiko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Tatsuhiko postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Donelly is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tatsuhiko, into his guard.
Donelly trying to control the position from guard on top but Tatsuhiko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Tatsuhiko looking for a guillotine here but Donelly defends easily.
Donelly trying to control but Tatsuhiko is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tatsuhiko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Donelly manages to get himself to full guard.
Tatsuhiko throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Donelly works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tatsuhiko has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Donelly pulls Tatsuhiko in close to prevent any damage.
Tatsuhiko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Tatsuhiko postures up and lands a big shot to Donelly's brow.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tatsuhiko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Donelly is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tatsuhiko trying to control but Donelly is working from the bottom.
Tatsuhiko with a flurry of punches that miss.
Tatsuhiko won't allow Donelly to get back to his feet.
Tatsuhiko trying to control the position from guard on top but Donelly is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tatsuhiko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Donelly looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tatsuhiko is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tatsuhiko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Donelly preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tatsuhiko scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Donelly is adopting a defensive guard.
Donelly keeping full guard, as Tatsuhiko tries to pass.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tatsuhiko works over Donelly with some ground and pound from guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akihito Tatsuhiko dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Donelly throws a big shot that misses.
Donelly circles away from the clinch attempt.
Donelly keeps the fight on the outside.
Akihito Tatsuhiko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tatsuhiko moves in looking to clinch but Donelly pushes him off.
Tatsuhiko closes the distance but Donelly moves to the side
and Donelly counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Donelly throws out a loose jab but Tatsuhiko uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tatsuhiko tries to clinch
and Donelly counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Donelly circles away from the clinch attempt
and Donelly counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Tatsuhiko tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Donelly manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Donelly scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Tatsuhiko clinches up with Donelly and pushes him back against the cage.
Donelly gets through Tatsuhiko's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Tatsuhiko wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Donelly creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
A right hook to the body lands for Donelly.
Tatsuhiko throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
A knee to the head by Tatsuhiko.
Tatsuhiko is trying to pull guard but Donelly has him pressed against the cage.
Tatsuhiko works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Tatsuhiko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Tatsuhiko crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Donelly - the referee stops the clock and Tatsuhiko gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Donelly. Tatsuhiko manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Tatsuhiko looks to land a left hand but Donelly moved out of range nicely.
Donelly throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Tatsuhiko connects with a solid leg kick.

Tatsuhiko decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tatsuhiko wants to free his trapped foot but Donelly is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Tatsuhiko thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tatsuhiko with the ground and pound but Donelly uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Tatsuhiko postures up in Donelly's guard and throws a big left but Donelly blocks it.
Donelly pulls Tatsuhiko in close to his closed guard and prevents Tatsuhiko from doing any damage or advancing position.
Tatsuhiko loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Tatsuhiko controlling from the top position.
Tatsuhiko postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tatsuhiko missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Donelly lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Tatsuhiko!
Tatsuhiko keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Donelly controlling his opponent.
Tatsuhiko tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Donelly takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tatsuhiko tries to hold on but Donelly postures up.
Donelly controlling the pace for now.
Tatsuhiko can't escape the position.
Akihito Tatsuhiko has got the better of the ground game so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tatsuhiko is squirming around, avoiding Donelly's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Akihito Tatsuhiko will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Tatsuhiko doesn't manage to clinch there - Donelly circles away.
Donelly dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Tatsuhiko. That did some damage!
Tatsuhiko throws a looping overhand right but Donelly ducks down to avoid it.
Donelly pushes Tatsuhiko away with a front kick.
Donelly connects with a body shot that sends Tatsuhiko's belly button to the back.
Tatsuhiko doesn't manage to clinch there - Donelly circles away.
Donelly circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tatsuhiko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Donelly cracks Tatsuhiko with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Tatsuhiko tries to clinch up but Donelly circles away and keeps his distance.

Tatsuhiko connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Donelly lands with a shot to the body.

Tatsuhiko walks into a stiff left hand from Donelly.
Donelly circles away from the clinch attempt.
Donelly keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A head kick misses from Donelly.

Tatsuhiko closes the distance and clinches.
Tatsuhiko misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Tatsuhiko fails to pull guard.
Tatsuhiko can't find room to land a body shot as Donelly controls the action.
Tatsuhiko tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Donelly's elbow.
Donelly lands an uppercut.


Tatsuhiko is rocked!
Donelly pushes Tatsuhiko against the cage. Donelly is working some dirty boxing. Donelly pushes off with a quick right hook! Tatsuhiko goes down! Tatsuhiko tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Donelly moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joseph Donelly!
