Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joaquin Shodo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Bowman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary Bowman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joaquin Shodo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Bowman!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shodo shoots in for a takedown but Bowman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Shodo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bowman tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice takedown defense from Shodo. No joy for Bowman on that attempt.
Shodo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bowman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shodo somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joaquin Shodo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bowman throws a sloppy head kick and Shodo moves out of range easily.
Bowman tries to clinch up.
Bowman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shodo as he avoids it easily.
Bowman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shodo defends it nicely.
Bowman looks gassed!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bowman throws a right and a left that both miss.

Shodo gets the takedown into side control.

Shodo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bowman, who protects the arm well.
Bowman strikes from the bottom but Shodo takes advantage and advances to full mount!

Shodo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bowman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bowman working to try and regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bowman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shodo has hold of Bowman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bowman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shodo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Bowman is now in Shodo's guard. A big mistake from Shodo there, giving up the dominant position!
Bowman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bowman stops Shodo from standing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Shodo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bowman off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Shodo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Shodo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bowman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bowman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bowman!
Shodo is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bowman is controlling him well.

Shodo throws Bowman to one side and escapes!

Shodo dives in and scores a takedown into Bowman's guard.
Shodo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Shodo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bowman is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bowman has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bowman wanted to stand there but Shodo had control of the position.

Shodo uses the cage to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No luck for Shodo with that takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joaquin Shodo dominated that round.
That's time! Shodo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bowman doesn't manage to clinch there - Shodo circles away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Shodo.

Shodo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Shodo has an Americana. Bowman didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Shodo is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Shodo hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Joaquin Shodo!
