Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Hibbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Woolett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shawn Woolett is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Hibbert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Woolett!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woolett with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hibbert counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Woolett looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Woolett utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Woolett is looking for a triangle here but Hibbert uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Hibbert wants to control but Woolett is keeping him busy.
Hibbert tries to advance to mount but Woolett denies him.
Hibbert in side control, throwing shots but Woolett defends.
Hibbert scoring with punches from side control.
Woolett on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hibbert has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Hibbert tries to clinch there but Woolett circles away.
No joy there for Hibbert, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hibbert shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Woolett manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hibbert accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hibbert not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hibbert trying to control but Woolett is working from the bottom.
Hibbert cracks Woolett with a solid left hand.
Woolett is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hibbert working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hibbert passes Woolett's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Hibbert is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Woolett sees it coming and defends easily.
Woolett is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hibbert wants to control but Woolett is keeping him busy.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Woolett looking for submissions off his back.
Woolett is not content to let Hibbert control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Paul Hibbert.

Hibbert fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Woolett sprawls well initially but Hibbert persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hibbert looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Woolett with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hibbert throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hibbert passes the guard and advances to mount!

Hibbert gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Hibbert shoots in for a double leg but Woolett sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Woolett scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Woolett is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hibbert is just riding it out for now. Woolett eventually gives up the hold.

Woolett has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hibbert defend it? Woolett steps over the head and cranks it - Hibbert is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Woolett!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shawn Woolett!
