Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Daw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Glen Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Daw moves away.
Daw slips under a jab.
Nelson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nelson is defended easily by Daw.
Nelson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Daw.
Nelson shoots in looking for a takedown but Daw manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nelson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Steve Daw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glen Nelson.
Nelson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nelson looks for a takedown but Daw sprawls well.
Daw throws a leg kick which misses Nelson's front leg but catches the back leg as Nelson tries to avoid it.
Daw defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nelson.
Nelson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A jab lands there for Nelson.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown but Daw shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Daw throws a leg kick but Nelson sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Daw defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nelson.
Nelson shoots for a takedown but Daw saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Nelson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nelson lands in his opponent's guard.
Nelson works over Daw with some ground and pound from guard.
Daw keeping full guard, as Nelson tries to pass.
Nelson throws an elbow that misses. Daw uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nelson's guard. Nice move by Daw!
Nelson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Daw is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Daw knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nelson on the ground.

Daw got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nelson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Daw has managed to get both his arms back between Nelson's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nelson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Daw is aware though and is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nelson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Daw avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Nelson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Daw can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Daw doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Daw manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Daw has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nelson is proving hard to escape from.

Nelson has his foot on Daw's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Daw works his way back into a safe position though.
Daw has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Nelson is looking to sinch up a triangle. Daw throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Nelson's body to avoid the submission. Nelson has instead reached around Daw's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Nelson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Glen Nelson!
