Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sean Mess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Thatcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sean Mess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Anthony Thatcher!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mess dodges the punch combination from Thatcher.
Thatcher swats away the attempt to clinch by Mess.
Mess throws a jab but it's blocked by Thatcher.
Thatcher keeps the fight on the outside.
Thatcher circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mess tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Thatcher avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A right-left combo lands from Mess.
Mess tries to clinch up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mess pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thatcher slips a jab from Mess.
Mess tries to clinch there but Thatcher circles away.

Thatcher lands a high kick to the side of Mess's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Thatcher dives into guard, looking to finish.


Mess is rocked!


It looks like Sean Mess has been cut.
Mess can't keep his opponent in guard - Thatcher advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Oh Mess is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Thatcher is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Thatcher seems to be working for a kimura but Mess defends the submission attempt.

Thatcher is trying to work for a kimura but Mess is defending well.
Mess seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mess is trying to stand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mess is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Thatcher pulls his head out easily.

Mess pushes Thatcher off and gets back to his feet.
Mess is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Mess shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mess was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Thatcher is trying to escape the mount.

Mess stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Mess avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Thatcher moves out of range of the body kick from Mess.
Mess looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Thatcher misses with a double jab
and Mess counters with a straight right hand.
Thatcher swinging wilding here.

and Mess counters with a takedown into side control.
Mess is breathing heavily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mess working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Mess stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mess misses with a double jab.
No joy there for Thatcher, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mess misses with a takedown attempt - Thatcher sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Thatcher closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mess showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Thatcher.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Mess dominated that round.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Mess will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mess is looking to clinch.
Mess shoots in looking for a takedown. Thatcher tries to sprawl out of it but Mess keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thatcher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mess swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mess wants to clinch up but Thatcher keeps it at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Thatcher throws a combination that misses

and Mess counters by clinching up.
Thatcher lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mess backwards.

Thatcher pulls guard successfully.
Mess is looking to stand up but Thatcher won't let him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thatcher wants to sweep here but Mess controlling him for the moment.

Thatcher working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mess doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mess manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Thatcher looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mess is one step ahead there.
Mess trying to control the position from guard on top but Thatcher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Thatcher looking for a guillotine here but Mess defends easily.

Thatcher looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mess lands a couple of elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Thatcher working for a triangle but Mess defends it easily.

Mess avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Thatcher wants to improve his position but instead Mess has moved into half guard.
Mess tries to stand and escape but Thatcher actually recovers to full guard.

Thatcher looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mess trying to control the position from guard on top but Thatcher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mess is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Thatcher has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Mess is looking to defend but Thatcher has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Mess! Thatcher pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Mess taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Anthony Thatcher!
