Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Holnick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikkel Larsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donnie Holnick has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donnie Holnick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikkel Larsen!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larsen listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Larsen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Larsen is trying to control the position but Holnick postures up.

Larsen isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Holnick stacks Larsen on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Holnick!
Holnick creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Larsen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Larsen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Holnick wants to improve his position but Larsen is controlling well.

Holnick manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Holnick is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Larsen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Holnick seems keen to control Larsen's posture.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Holnick looking to score a takedown here. Larsen is defending well but Holnick drives through and ends up in Larsen's guard.
Holnick is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Larsen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Holnick!

I really don't envy Holnick right now.
Larsen is controlling the position but Holnick somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Holnick moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Holnick pulls Larsen in to control the position.
Holnick looking to hit a scissor sweep but Larsen is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Larsen wants to pass the guard but Holnick is keeping the position.
Larsen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Larsen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Holnick manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Holnick is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Larsen can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Larsen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Holnick slips under a jab from Larsen.
Larsen scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Larsen tries to clinch up but Holnick circles away and keeps his distance.
Larsen fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
A clash of legs there as Larsen blocks the low kick.
Holnick checks a leg kick.

Holnick scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Holnick keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Holnick seems to be working for a kimura but Larsen defends the submission attempt.
Larsen wants to control but Holnick passes into side.

Holnick laying and praying for a moment but Larsen takes advantage and regains half guard.
Holnick looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Larsen throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Holnick passes the guard and advances to mount!
Holnick tries to control but Larsen wriggling away.
Donnie Holnick overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Larsen is wriggling around trying to escape.
Holnick tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Holnick looking to control but Larsen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Holnick jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Larsen manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Larsen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Holnick is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Larsen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Holnick pulls his head out easily.
Larsen is looking to control Holnick's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Larsen avoid being mounted?

Holnick maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Larsen could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Holnick has cracked it and Larsen is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Holnick!
