Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Iverson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Iverson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Sick Puppies- This Is War. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Connor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dustin Iverson!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor with a lazy takedown attempt
and Iverson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Connor's knee momentarily.
Iverson scores with a body shot.
Connor misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Iverson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Iverson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Iverson tries to land a front kick but Connor steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Connor has his takedown stuffed

and Iverson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Connor won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Connor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Iverson takes a little break here. Connor wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Connor wants to control but Iverson postures up.

Connor misses with a strike from the bottom.
Connor tries to buck Iverson off but Iverson is having none of it.

Connor is looking to regain half guard here but Iverson keeps moving and retains side control.

Iverson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Iverson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Iverson looks up at the clock and then as Connor takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Iverson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Iverson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Connor to his feet.

Iverson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Connor manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Connor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Iverson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Connor is breathing heavily.

Connor throws his legs up looking for a submission but Iverson uses it to pass to side control.
Connor is not content to let Iverson control the position.
The referee asks Iverson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Iverson prefers to stall for the moment though.
Iverson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Iverson lands an elbow.
Iverson in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Connor is trying to get back to half guard.
Connor can't do much from the bottom here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dustin Iverson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Iverson throws a right and a left that Connor avoids nicely.

and Iverson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Iverson tries to break free but Connor pushes him back against the cage.
Connor prevents the takedown attempt.
Connor wants a takedown but no success here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Connor is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Iverson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Iverson decides to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Iverson counters with a shoot takedown. Connor fights it but they end up in guard.
Iverson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Connor throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Connor tries to escape but Iverson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Connor breaks Iverson's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Dustin Iverson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Iverson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Connor to the ground. Iverson is now in Connor's guard.

Connor working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Iverson has passed into half guard!
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Iverson in particular looking to stall.

Connor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Iverson pulls his head out easily.
Iverson wants to free his trapped foot but Connor is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Iverson content to control rather than advance.
Connor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Iverson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Connor doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Iverson.

Connor is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Iverson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Well Iverson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Dustin Iverson really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that KAISER logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
