Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Ferguson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joaquin Shodo!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferguson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shodo as he avoids it easily.
Ferguson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Josh Ferguson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ferguson enables Shodo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ferguson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Shodo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ferguson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shodo!
Shodo holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ferguson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Shodo's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Ferguson looking to control but Shodo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ferguson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Ferguson wants to control the pace but Shodo is squirming around nicely.
Shodo is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Ferguson will probably get the nod.

Shodo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Shodo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ferguson has managed to free his arm - good work.

Shodo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ferguson sees it coming and defends easily.
Ferguson wants to control but Shodo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shodo seems to be working for a kimura but Ferguson defends the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shodo in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Ferguson tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Shodo!
