PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Flecher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Penoir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flecher kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Motörhead - Serial Killer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penoir moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
The fighters circle momentarily. Flecher darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Flecher tries to clinch but Penoir is having none of it.
Flecher fails with a takedown attempt.
Flecher throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Penoir.

Flecher darts in and clinches Penoir up against the cage.
Penoir is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Flecher pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Flecher keeps control of Penoir as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Flecher lands a body shot in the clinch.
Flecher lands a damaging elbow.

Flecher manages to pull guard.
Flecher controls Penoir momentarily but Penoir frees himself.

Penoir wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Flecher, who protects the arm well.

Penoir lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Flecher down.

Flecher is squirming around, avoiding Penoir's attempts to control the action.

Flecher tries to lock up and control but Penoir gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Penoir tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Penoir moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Flecher has worked his arm free - good work by Flecher!
Penoir looks gassed!
Penoir creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Flecher sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Flecher throws Penoir to one side and escapes!
Flecher shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Penoir as he avoids it easily.
Flecher displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Penoir throws out the jab.
Flecher looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Penoir is fending him off so far but Flecher persists. Nope, Penoir circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Flecher. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Penoir shoots in but no luck this time.
Flecher tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Flecher pushes Penoir up against the cage in a clinch.

Flecher lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

It looks like Mario Penoir has been cut.
Flecher stalls.

Penoir is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Penoir is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penoir winds up and cracks Flecher with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Penoir works his way into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Penoir unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Flecher wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Penoir celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
