Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Smick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Tretiak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smick tries to clinch but Tretiak is having none of it.

Tretiak closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tretiak thows a huge punch but Smick dodges it nicely.

Tretiak is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Tretiak looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Tretiak is looking for a kimura but Smick is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tretiak to get the leverage.

Tretiak thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smick's head.
Tretiak looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Tretiak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tretiak wants to work for an arm triangle but Smick is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Smick forces Tretiak back against the cage and clinches.

Tretiak has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smick can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Tretiak had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Smick is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tretiak Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Smick's back instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tretiak on the ground.

Tretiak has hold of Smick's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Smick tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Tretiak cranks the arm and Smick screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Smick, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
