Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fabricio Werdum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Borys Filipowicz!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filipowicz wants to clinch.

Werdum clinches with his opponent.

Filipowicz pulls guard effortlessly.
Werdum slips nicely into half guard.

Werdum is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Werdum tries to pass the half guard into mount. Filipowicz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Werdum wants to work for an arm triangle but Filipowicz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Werdum is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Filipowicz has managed to free his arm - good work.

Werdum is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Filipowicz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Werdum.

Werdum trying to work for an americana but Filipowicz has managed to regain full guard.

Werdum stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Filipowicz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Werdum postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Filipowicz is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Werdum, into his guard.

Werdum is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Filipowicz trying to stand up but can't free himself from Werdum's guard.
Werdum looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Filipowicz wants to control from the top but Werdum keeps moving.

Werdum looking for a guillotine here but Filipowicz defends easily.

Werdum is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Filipowicz is aware though and is defending well.

Filipowicz trying to control the position from guard on top but Werdum is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Werdum bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Filipowicz's guard.
Werdum looking to pass the guard.
Werdum is working hard here to advance position.

Werdum has gone for a leg lock! Filipowicz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Werdum's guard.

Filipowicz wants to control from the top but Werdum keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fabricio Werdum dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Werdum.

Werdum goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Filipowicz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Werdum but great work by Filipowicz.
Filipowicz wants to stand but Werdum is controlling his arm.
Werdum is trying to control Filipowicz's posture but Filipowicz avoids it.
Werdum is trying to get back to half guard.
Werdum takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Werdum struggling a bit here.
Filipowicz is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Werdum will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Filipowicz wants to control but Werdum is keeping him busy.

Werdum is looking to regain half guard here but Filipowicz keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Filipowicz is looking to take a break and control but Werdum is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Werdum is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Filipowicz off and has taken his back!

Werdum tightening his grip on Filipowicz, looking for the choke.

Werdum is looking for a choke. Filipowicz gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Filipowicz manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Filipowicz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Werdum, up you get!
Werdum shoots in but no luck this time.
Werdum stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Werdum wants it to stay on the feet.
A jab from Filipowicz does it's job there.

Werdum looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Filipowicz!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Werdum goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Filipowicz is on top in guard.

Filipowicz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Werdum looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Filipowicz has picked Werdum up and slammed him! Werdum can't keep hold of the triangle and Filipowicz manages to pass to side control!

Filipowicz decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Werdum decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Filipowicz's guard.

Werdum drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Filipowicz dives on top into guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Werdum looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Filipowicz is defending well. Werdum quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Filipowicz has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Werdum celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Fabricio Werdum!
A relieved looking Fabricio Werdum thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
