Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andy Gurvits!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 24 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Clark Kent!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kent fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kent throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gurvits.

Gurvits drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Gurvits showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Gurvits is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kent really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gurvits. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gurvits drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kent looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kent looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kent!
Gurvits controls the position for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gurvits can't do much from the bottom here.

Gurvits sneaks out the side door and pushes Kent away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Gurvits avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gurvits closes the distance and clinches up with Kent, looking for a takedown. Gurvits pushes Kent against the cage but Kent circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gurvits shoots in looking for a takedown. Kent tries to sprawl out of it but Gurvits keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kent manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gurvits fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Gurvits. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gurvits shoots for a double leg takedown but Kent sprawls well. He's pushed Gurvits's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gurvits could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gurvits slips under a jab.
Kent throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Kent, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gurvits shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gurvits showed some decent athleticism there.

Gurvits seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Kent is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Andy Gurvits!
