PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hugo Santos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charlie Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hugo Santos!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell digs a good body shot into Santos's ribs.
Liddell wants to slow Santos down by chopping away at his legs.
Charlie Liddell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos throws a wild body kick that Liddell sees coming a mile off.
Liddell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Santos checks a leg kick.
Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Santos tries to close the distance and clinch but Liddell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Santos takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Liddell throws a shot to the body.
Liddell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Liddell throws a low kick but Santos avoids it.
Santos throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Liddell sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Santos has a takedown stuffed.
A looping hook to the body misses from Liddell. Santos does a little dance to reset his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Liddell circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Santos drives through and clinches with Liddell against the cage.
Liddell looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Santos is stalling here.
Santos is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Liddell gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Charlie Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugo Santos.
Liddell wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Santos is trying to pull guard but Liddell has him pressed against the cage.
Santos tries to pull guard but Liddell holds him up against the cage and eventually Santos drops back down to his feet.

Santos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Liddell as he jumps to the side.
Santos takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Santos looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Liddell with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Liddell finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Liddell looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Santos walks into a jab.
Liddell is looking to wear down Santos with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Liddell tries to work over Santos's front leg with a kick but Santos checks it.
Liddell lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Liddell tries to score with a low kick but Santos moves his leg out of the way.
Santos misses with a combination
and Liddell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


Santos is rocked!
Liddell ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Santos keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Santos has a takedown stuffed.

Liddell lands a big right hand that sends Santos crashing to the mat! Liddell stays standing though and waves Santos back to his feet!
Santos is still on wobbly legs! Can Liddell finish him?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Liddell misses with a kick to the body.
and Liddell counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Santos! He's just covering up as Liddell starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Charlie Liddell!
